Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe, characterized by mountain villages, baroque architecture, Imperial history and rugged Alpine terrain. Vienna, its Danube River capital, is home to the Schonbrunn and Hofburg palaces. It has counted Mozart, Strauss and Freud among its residents. The country’s other notable regions include the northern Bohemian Forest, Traunsee Lake and eastern hillside vineyards.
Day 1: Arrive Vienna
Attractions: Belvedere Palace,Schonbrunn Palace,St. Stephen Cathedral
Arrive into Vienna and transfer to your hotel and check in. Rest of the day at leisure to explore on own. A stroll around Vienna can be like a journey back in time to the days of the empire: it comes as no surprise that the historic city center is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. Vienna boasts 27 palaces and 163 other residences - examples of the city's illustrious history await on virtually every street corner. Vienna - The world's most beautiful boulevard. A trip around Vienna's magnificent Ringstrasse boulevard is always a special sightseeing experience whether you are on foot or taking a ride in a traditional fiacre. See the Belvedere Palace – the summer residence of the king, visit the Schonbrunn Palace compared to the grand Versailles and a major tourist attraction – best known palace for art lovers and also has the oldest and the only baroque zoo in the world, it also offers an interesting attraction for children as well as adults. The children's museum, Experience Schonbrunn Palace sends visitors on an adventurous journey to the imperial world of 18th century. Discover off-beat boutiques in small backstreets meet and talk with designers personally during your shopping excursion and explore one of Vienna's trendiest districts. Day 2: Vienna
Attractions: Hofburg Imperial Palace,Belvedere Complex,Natural History Museum,City Hall,Schonbrunn Zoo
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed for sightseeing of Vienna either guided or on your own as there is lots to see – SUGGESTIONS – Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Belvedere Complex consisting of several palaces and part of the historic scene, the Ringstrasse – a road more than 5 kms with most of the important buildings lined on both sides of the road, Buildings along the road include the State Opera, the Natural History Museum, City Hall and the Vienna Stock Exchange, the Burggarten a once royal garden that is a bit of England in Vienna, as it is patterned after English gardens, St. Stephens Cathedral, Graben - Graben is one of the most famous streets in central Vienna, today it is an up-scale shopping promenade, with many local specialties such as Wien Porzellan, the Wiener Rathaus – Vienna's town hall. You may want to visit the Giant Ferris Wheel The Prater – landmark of Vienna and simply enjoy the view of the city from almost 200 feet up, Schonbrunn Zoo – the oldest zoo in the world, Danube Tower – 826 feet high with 2 express elevators taking you to a rotating restaurant and lots more. Day 3: Vienna
Attractions: Danube,Anchor Clock,Naschmarkt
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure - Take a relaxing boat trip on the Danube - we continue to the hilly vineyards where you can enjoy an excellent view over the city. lots of shopping to do, Vienna's Old City at the Golden Quarter – fashion chains and flagship stores, Shopping streets and pedestrian zones offer luxury goods and good values – at jeweler's shops as well as antique stores, art stores, and fashion designer boutiques. Between flagship stores and shopping palaces, you can discover many things. Enjoy the Coffeehouses and Ice cream parlours in the Old City. Vienna is very popular for its apple pies and pastries. At evening time, we recommend the concert at the Schonbrunn Palace which will allow you to experience the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss in the place and atmosphere it was once composed and played in. This unforgettable event which can also include a dinner is a must activity while in Vienna. The Danube Valley is a great day trip from Vienna. See the Anchor Clock – situated on the oldest square of Vienna and represents a typical Art Noveau Design, Burgtheater (National Theater), visit the Naschmarkt - is a unique mixture of Austrian traditions and oriental influences. It is a great place to shop for goodies and to have lunch at one of the many stalls, coffee shops and restaurants. Overnight at hotel in Vienna.
Day 4: Vienna – Salzburg
Attractions: Mirabell Garden,Schlosspark Hellbrunn
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and transfer to Vienna station for your train to Salzburg – approx 2 ½ hrs. Arrive at Salzburg and transfer to your hotel and check in. Salzburg's Old Town (Altstadt) is internationally renowned for its baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centers north of the Alps. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Rest of the day at leisure to explore on own. Suggestion: To buy the Salzburg Card - Salzburg Card is your key to the city of Salzburg: it provides free admission to Salzburg's museums, free use of the Fortress funicular, the Untersberg cableway, Salzach ship service (tour 1) and public transport. Salzburg Card holders can also take advantage of a number of discounts on concerts, theater performances or excursions to destinations in the Salzburg vicinity. Salzburg is an enchanting location with mountains and hills, gardens and parks, all within the city. Day 5: Salzburg
Attractions: Mozarts Birthplace,Salzburg Zoo,Hellbrunn Palace,Trick Fountains,Toy Museum
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed for sightseeing of Salzburg either guided or on your own as there is lots to see – you can choose to visit whichever attraction appeals to you more – SUGGESTIONS – Mozarts Birthplace and residence, Salzburg Zoo, Hellbrunn Palace and Trick Fountains, Toy Museum - The museum not only has historic toy collections on display but a vast array of toys that children can play with. Visit the Mirabell Gardens with its Pegasus Fountain, Rose Garden and Dwarves Garden and take a tour of the Mozart Residence on Makart Square. In the afternoon you can visit Hellbrunn Palace with its Trick Fountains and Salzburg Zoo – preferably by taking a cruise on the Amadeus – or ride the cable car up on the Untersberg. Lots of guided tours – lunch tours, themed tours, historic beer tours, segway tours, Rikschatours, Cruises and lots more. There is also plenty of nature to marvel at when gazing up at the throne of the castle, Fortress Hohensalzburg, on Mönchsberg Mountain. A stroll up onto the hill or a pleasant ride up in the mountain train lift affords a magnificent view across the city and the surrounding countryside. Day 6: Salzburg – Innsbruck
Attractions: Imperial Palace,Golden Roof,Old Town,Tyrolean State Museums,Alpenzoo Innsbruck,Ambras Palace
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and transfer to Salzburg station for your train to Innsbruck – approx 2 hrs. Arrive at Innsbruck and transfer to your hotel and check in. Rest of the day at leisure to explore on own. See imperial monuments, landmarks like the Imperial Palace, the Golden Roof, hop on-hop off sightseeing bus. Lots of fun activities – tobogganning, Alpine Zoo, Castle Ambras – castle parks with duck pond, children's playgrounds and adventure parks, lots of coffee bars, restaurants, and inns. See the Hofkirche and the Emperor's Tomb, the famous Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl), the Hofburg – a former imperial residence, the Old Town, the Tyrolean State Museums, the Alpenzoo Innsbruck-Tyrol, the Ambras Palace etc.Enjoy an unforgettable shopping experience in the centre of Innsbruck in the Rathausgalerien or Kaufhaus Tyrol shopping centres. Day 7: Innsbruck
Attractions: Swarovski Crystal World,Crystalline theatre
Breakfast at the hotel. Explore the Swarovski Crystal World – only 20 minutes from Innsbruck. The Swarovski Crystal Worlds, created by Andre Heller, is a pure invitation to dream. Only a 20 minutes drive away from Innsbruck this sparkling fantasy world is definitely worth a visit. This unique Crystalline theatre is Austria's second most visited museum, right after Schonbrunn Palace. In 1995, for the 100 year anniversary of Swarovski, the multi-media artist Andre Heller created a place of true amazement with 14 subterranean Chambers of Wonder. In 2003 and 2007 the so called home of the crystals became extended with new chambers. More than 8 million people have been enchanted by this world of experiences encompassing the full spectrum of art, music, dance and literature.
Day 8: Depart Innsbruck
Check out and transfer to Innsbruck airport for your departure flight.
