Demilitarized Zone - Seoul
Tour Overview
Korea is a region in East Asia. Since 1948, it has been divided between two distinct sovereign states: North Korea and South Korea. Korea consists of the Korean Peninsula, Jeju Island, and several minor islands near the peninsula. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, high-tech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. Notable attractions include futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a convention hall with curving architecture and a rooftop park; Gyeongbokgung Palace, which once had more than 7,000 rooms; and Jogyesa Temple, site of ancient locust and pine trees.The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula. It is established by the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement to serve as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea. The demilitarized zone is a border barrier that divides the Korean Peninsula roughly in half.
Day 1: Seoul
Attractions: Meyong Dong Shopping Area,YTN Seoul Tower,Myeongdong Nanta Theatre,Lotte World Theme Park
Arrive Seoul. Meet and greet at the airport by our local representative. Transfer to the Hotel, rest of the day at leisure. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, hightech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. Notable attractions include futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a convention hall with curving architecture and a rooftop park, Gyeongbokgung Palace, which once had more than 7,000 rooms, and Jogyesa Temple, site of ancient locust and pine trees. Today explore the city on own visit Myeong-dong – a bustling shopping area with international fashion brands, luxury department stores and homegrown cosmetic shops. Here you will find street vendors selling Japanese and Thai snacks. Shows mixing folk music and drama are staged at Myeongdong Nanta Theatre. Nearby 19th-century Myeong-dong Cathedral features a Gothicstyle bell tower. At leisure, visit the YTN Seoul Tower, a communication and observation tower located on Namsan Mountain , it offers panoramic views of the city and a revolving restaurant. If travelling with kids do visit Lotte World – a major theme park with rides with the world's largest indoor theme park, an outdoor amusement park called 'Magic Island' – an artificial island inside a lake linked by monorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities and movie theatres. Day 2: Seoul - Half Day City Tour
Attractions: Gyeongbokgung Palace,National Folk Museum,Jogyesa Buddhist Temple,Lotte World Tower observatory,Namdaemun market
After morning breakfast, proceed for a half day guided city tour of Seoul including Gyeongbokgung Palace – it's a beautiful palace and the largest of the five grand palaces from the Joseon Dynasty. See the Changing of the Guard ceremony (Deoksugung Palace on Tuesdays), The National Folk Museum are located on the grounds of this palace, built six centuries ago by the founder of the Chosun dynasty (History Museum on Tuesdays), pass by the Blue House (the official residence of the President), then visit the Jogyesa Buddhist Temple, visit the Ginseng Centre - Ganghwa Ginseng Center handles quality ginseng guaranteed in its cultivation, processing, and distribution, owing to the utmost care exerted to provide safe and reliable products. Rest of the day at leisure. Take a Seoul ferry evening cruise on the Han river with live music and see the city lit up at night, visit the Lotte World Tower observatory – go up the 118th level of the tower to get aerial views of the city. Then visit one of the markets- Namdaemun market – the city's largest market where almost everything is available for sale including clothing, souvenirs, purses, and food supplies. Many stalls are open into the wee hours of the morning. Or visit Dongdaemun market - With 26 shopping malls and 30,000 shops, Dongdaemun Market is one of the largest and most important shopping venues in Korea, and the best place to find Korean fashion at wholesale and retail price. With mega malls that rise up 14 stories tall and some of the largest markets in Asia, shopping in Seoul is not just common, it's one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. You can find premium international brands, or discover a new local designer who's setting the future of fashion. You can buy adorable accessories for your smartphone, replace all your skincare products, or even purchase traditional Korean art. Whether you're a fashionista with an infinite budget or a cost-conscious traveler with an indie style, Seoul is truly a shopping paradise. There are many malls like - Starfield COEX Mall, The Shilla Duty Free Seoul, Lotte Department Store Main etc. Seoul is also a must-visiit dining destination with diverse cuisines – here you will find fine dining restaurants as well as Buddhist temple restaurants, there is street food, Michelin starred restaurants and one can often see three generations of family dining here together. The city offers some of the best nightlife in Asia. There are casinos, clubs, pubs, international bars etc. Overnight at hotel in Seoul.
Day 3: Optional DMZ Tour
Attractions: Korean War history,Dora Observatory
After morning breakfast, proceed for an optional DMZ Tour - The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) lies on the border between North and South Korea, and visiting outside of a guided tour is not allowed. On this tour, explore the DMZ with your guide and gain insight into Korean War history. Take in sites of interest including the 3rd Tunnel and the Dora Observatory in safety, with entrance fees. Tour starts with the drive to Imjingak Park to see the Freedom Bridge, a symbol of the tragedies of the Korean War. Then head toward the Korean Demilitarized Zone to visit the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, which the North Korean Army used to infiltrate South Korea. With a provided helmet, you can walk down to the tunnel, and then you'll have time to browse the DMZ Exhibition Hall to see displays of old weapons, a short film about Korea's history, and other information about the Korean War. Next, visit Dora Observatory for a view of North Korea, which you can see using the onsite telescopes aimed at the propaganda village, and then continue to Dorasan Station, the last station before the border with North Korea, where you can get a souvenir stamp that mimics an immigration stamp. Make your way back to Seoul at this point, passing by Unification Village and stopping at the Korean Ginseng Center before drop-off at Seoul City Hall, where your tour ends.
Day 4: Depart
After morning breakfast, afternoon check-out, transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
