Chitwan - Kathmandu - Pokhra

Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With an estimated population of 26.4 million, it is 48th largest country by population and 93rd largest country by area. Kathmandu is the capital city and largest city of Nepal with a population of 1.5 million in the city proper, and 5 million in its wider urban agglomeration across the Kathmandu Valley. Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.Chitwan is one of 77 districts of Nepal, and is located in the southwestern part of Nepal.

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Attractions: Bhaktapur,Nyatapola Temple,Bhaktapur Durbar Square,Pashupatinath Temple

Arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport. You will be met by a local guide / representative and transferred by a private vehicle to your hotel. Arrive at the hotel and check in. First proceed to Bhaktapur, the third of the medieval city-states in the Kathmandu Valley, visit the Nyatapola Temple which is a 5-storey pagoda temple built in 1702 A.D. under the rule of King Bhupatindra Malla. This beautifully sculptured building is considered one of the tallest pagodas in the country. Also see the Bhaktapur Durbar Square which is a plaza in front of the Royal Palace of the old Bhaktapur kingdom and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then visit the popular Pashupatinath Temple which is a famous Hindu sacred temple and located on the banks of the Bagmati river. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and attracts hundreds of followers of Hinduism. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy one of the many adventure activities that Kathmandu has to offer – take a mountain flight, bungee jumping, go canyoning, white water rafting, New Tandem Swing & High Ropes. Day 2: Kathmandu

Attractions: Sublime Trees,Swayambunath Stupa,Kathmandu Durbar Square

After breakfast, morning proceed for half day sightseeing of Kathmandu city and Swayambhunath - 'Swayambhu is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees', for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. Perched atop a hill on the western edge of the Kathmandu Valley, the ancient Swayambunath Stupa (known to tourists as the Monkey Temple) is Kathmandu's most important Buddhist shrine. Then visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square in front of the old royal palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom and is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After lunch (at own expense), proceed for an excursion to Nagarkot, the hill-station of Kathmandu. It is the top spot for enjoying Himalayan views from the comfort of your hotel balcony. Get a evening sunset views from the view tower which is spectacular sight. Late evening return back to your hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu - Pokhara

Attractions: Trekking,Boating,Paragliding

After breakfast, check out and depart by a private vehicle to Pokhara (approx 6 hrs drive). Arrive at Pokhara and check in at the hotel. Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna mountain range, the city is also a base for trekkers. Pokhara is also the number one adventure city in Nepal as well as for leisure and relaxing. There is plenty of entertainment for individual travellers as well as families with kids. In Pokhara you can experience the best in trekking, boating, hiking, pony rides, paragliding or simply relax at one of the lakes near the city with the stunning Annapurna mountain range at the background. Relax in your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 4: Pokhara

Attractions: Himalayan views,Phewa Lake,Bindhya Basini Temple,Mahendra Pool Bridge

After breakfast, proceed for a morning excursion to Sarangkot approx 45 minutes car ride from Pokhara and 45 minutes hike to the main view point. Sarangkot is renowned for its panoramic Himalayan views – Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu as well as the city of Pokhara and Phewa Lake. In recent times, Sarangkot has become very popular for paragliding which is a wonderful experience for an adventure seeker. Then return back to Pokhara. Later in the afternoon, do sightseeing of Pokhara town – see Devi's Falls, the water forms an underground tunnel after reaching the bottom. Then visit the Bindhya Basini Temple – a oldest Hindu temple in the Pokhara Valley, has immense cultural value and dedicated to Goddess Bhagawati. Then visit the Mahendra Pool Bridge- the main marketplace of Pokhara and enjoy boating on Phewa Lake.Phewa Lake is situated at an altitude of 784 m above sea level with an island temple in the middle of the lake. The reflection of the Annapurna range can be seen in its serene waters. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 5: Pokhara – Chitwan

Attractions: Chitwan National Park

After breakfast, check out and depart for Chitwan. Arrive at Chitwan National Park and check in a jungle lodge. Chitwan National Park was established in 1973 and is the first national park in Nepal. It is tropical and sub-tropical forests. The park is home to atleast 68 species of animals, the main being the Bengal Tiger. There are also more than 500 species of birds anf 56 species of flora and fauna. One can also see the protected one-horned rhino and the Gharial crocodile. The park also has the world's largest terrestrial mammal, the wild elephant. The park offers interesting sights and activities. Rest of the day at leisure to relax in your lodge and enjoy the sounds of the various birds. Overnight in Chitwan.

Day 6: Chitwan

Attractions: Jungle Trekking,Jeep Jungle Tour,River Boating

After breakfast, proceed to on an elephant-back safari to get a closer view of the endangered one-horned rhino. One may also get a glimpse of the Bengal tiger. There is also an elephant breeding centre which gives information on the baby elephants born there. See the grasslands and waterholes in the park. Besides this the park also offers – half/full day of private jungle treks, jeep jungle tours, river boating and canoeing in the Rapti ricer. Overnight at the jungle lodge in Chitwan.

Day 7: Chitwan – Kathmandu

Attractions: Boudhanath Stupa

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kathmandu. Arrive at Kathmandu and directly visit Boudhanath which is a stupa in Kathmandu. This is the largest stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 8: Depart Kathmandu

Check out and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
