Short Description

Hassan district is famous for temples built during Hoysala period. The district was founded by a Chola officer called Bukkanna Nayaka during 11th Century and got established during 12th century. The Hasanamba temple of Goddess Hasanamma was constructed during Sanjeeva Krishnappa Nayaka period which is a structure of post Vijayanagar period. This temple is opened only once in a year for the period of one week.

Detailed Itinerary

 
Day 1: Bangalore - Hassan (182 Km - 04 Hrs)

Early morning, you will be picked from your hotel in Bangalore (Booked on own), later drive to Hassan en route visit the Sravanabelogola that is renowned for the 17m high statue of Lord Gomateshvara a top the Indragiri Hill. 

On arrival in Hassan, we will visit the Halebid & Belur. You would visit a lot of attractions in Belur and Halebid like Chennakeshva Temple and others. 

Halebid or Halebidu was once the capital of Hoysala Empire, also known as Dwarasamudra located at a distance of just 15 km from Belur. It has two famous Hindu temples in one platform here claimed the best example of Hoysala architecture dating back to 12th century. Name of the temples are Hoysaleswara temple and Kedareswara temple, both dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is lake also in front of the temples called Dwarasamudra, town gets its name from the lake.

Belur is 1 km away from Halebid, was once the capital of Hoysala King. Together they are the main attractions of Hassan district. Belur is famous for Chennakesava Temple or Vishnuvardhana Temple, which is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. It is the only Hoysala temple still in active worship.

After the visit, we drive back to Bangalore. On arrival, transfer to the hotel.
