Indonesia, a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages. It’s known for beaches, volcanoes, Komodo dragons and jungles sheltering elephants, orangutans and tigers. On the island of Java lies Indonesia's vibrant, sprawling capital, Jakarta, and the city of Yogyakarta, known for gamelan music and traditional puppetry. Labuan Bajo is a fishing town located at the western end of the large island of Flores in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia. It is the capital of the West Manggarai Regency, one of the eight regencies which are the major administrative divisions of Flores.Rinca, also known as Rincah and Rindja, is a small island near Komodo and Flores island, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, within the West Manggarai Regency. It is one of the three largest islands included in Komodo National Park.
Day 1: Arrive Labuan Bajo – Rinca – Kelor – Kalong island
Begin your trip with the first flight of the day to Komodo airport in Flores. Upon arrival, transfer directly to Labuan Bajo harbour, and embark on a local wooden boat with open deck. A short boat journey gets you to Kelor island for snorkelling near the island (snorkelling gear is provided). Continue onto Rinca island, one of the best locations to see the Komodo in their natural habitat. An approx 2 hours soft trek on the island in search for the dragons, guided by a local ranger. Afterwards continue sailing towards Kalong island to observe bats filling the sky as they come home to rest at sunset. Transfer back to the main island towards Labuan Bajo and proceed to check in at your choice of hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2: Labuan Bajo – Hatamin island – Depart Labuan Bajo
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and you will be picked up from the hotel lobby and transfer to the harbour. It is a 2 hours boat ride to Hatamin island, a dedicated coral conservation located near the island of Seraya Besar. Enjoy snorkeling and learn how the project empowers local communities and raises public awareness on coral reef preservation. Sail back to Labuan Bajo and transfer directly to Komodo Airport for your onward journey with wonderful memories of your visit.
