Welcome to Spituk Gompa

Spituk is a small village on the banks of the Indus River, which houses a picturesque Buddhist monastery. Spituk-gompa was built in the 15th century and belongs to the Gelugpa Buddhist school. In the prayer hall there are impressive frescoes and statues of guardian deities, whose furious faces are open to the public only once a year. The military from a nearby base come to the monastery to worship the deity Kali, who, in fact, is the Buddhist deity Yidam Dorje Jigd.
