Kufri is the oldest ski resort in India, opened in 1854. Located 92 km from Dharamshala. The best time for skiing is from November to February. Kufri is a small hill station located 19 km from Simla. Nearby are the Himalayan Nature Park and the Indira Tourist Park, where you can ride ponies and yaks. This region was previously part of the Kingdom of Nepal and was virtually unknown to the "outside world" until the British "discovered" it in 1819. The latter made Shimla their summer capital from 1864 to 1939. After this resort Kufri also gained popularity. Today it is a center for alpine skiing, trekking and hiking. Fans of thrills can go down the slopes on a toboggan.
